Scion tC

The Scion tC coupe debuted for the 2005 model year and was designed for the younger generation, also known as Generation Y, or those born after 1980. With Toyota as Scion's parent company, all their vehicles benefit from Toyota's safety and reliability features as well as their excellent warranty. The Scion tC could be considered Toyota's successor to the Celica, which ended production with the 2005 model year.

This 5 passenger car is actually a well designed 3 door hatchback disguised as a sporty coupe that appealed to the Gen Y set- yet its performance and style were equally appealing to many Generation X drivers. The standard 2.4 liter inline 4 cylinder engine with manual transmission and front wheel drive traveled as far as most economy cars on a gallon of gas and it also held its own on snow covered roads. The rear seats were designed to recline up to 45 degrees to truly increase the comfort level of back seat passengers and 2 adults could be more than easily accommodated. Although there was room for 3, it was a little more of a squeeze-though most of the younger set did not mind. The super cool automatic panoramic sun roof allowed the sun to really shine in or provide an outstanding view of the moon. The performance car style eye candy exterior was exciting and the ability to personalize the vehicle with a choice of grilles and spoilers allowed the new owners to express their individual styles and personalities. At an MSRP of under $20,000, the Scion tC was a viable and highly functional alternative to higher priced coupes.

Innovative and intelligent changes have been made to the tC since its introduction. For the 2006 model year, a three spoke sport steering wheel with audio controls that operate the Pioneer audio system were added to an already impressive line of standard features. In addition, an accessory jack and integrated iPod connectivity became just another one of the many appealing standard features. For 2007, the Spec trim model was introduced to compliment the Base trim model and provide an even lower cost alternative. The most significant differences include 16 inch wheels as opposed to 17 inch standard on the Base model and the super cool sunroof is replaced by a fixed glass roof.

Both the Scion tC Base and Spec models still feature a low sticker price, excellent gas mileage and a list of standard features wrapped up in a package that provides the appeal of a high performance coupe with the interior comfort of a mid size sedan.
