Audi S4

The Audi S4 is a sports car that was derived from the Audi A4. The S4 name was first used by Audi for the sports version of the Audi 100. The Audi car company started making changes in the cars it was offering in 1990. As a result of this new line-up of cars being introduced, the Audi S4 came into being. This was a sports version of the new look 100. The S4 though had the same C4 platform as the 100 but it effectively took the place of the 200 Turbo Quattro. The later model had stopped production in 1990. The S4 was introduced in the world market, equipped with a 2.2 liter inline 5 engine, though buyers in Europe had the option of buying a S4 with a 4.2 liter V8 engine. The S4 was available with a Quattro all wheel drive and manual transmission.

In 1994, Audi stopped using the name 100 and called the car the A6. This resulted in the S4 now being called the S6. The changes were minor to the new car, with only a plus model being sold with a V8 engine. In 1997, the A6 was changed and a new model based on the C5 chassis was brought in. This meant that the S4 and S6 models were now different from each other. The new S4 was introduced on the B5 platform in Europe in 97, though the car was unavailable in North America until 2000. The new S4 was introduced with a 2.7 liter V6 Engine. The S4 could achieve a speed of 100 kilometers per hour in 5.6 seconds. This made the S4 sedan the fastest car among all sedan models available in the market. In 1998 Avant version of the S4 a wagon became available.

The S4 was introduced for the third time in the middle of 2003, albeit now on a new B6 platform. The new S4 came in three types, the saloon, wagon and convertible. The new S4 had a 4.2 liter V8 engine, which could achieve the 100 kilometers mark in 52 seconds. Audi replaced the B6 S4 with the B7 based S4 in mid 2005. Though according to Audi the new S4 is different, the changes between it and the old S4 are minor. The new S4 has a V8 engine, with the buyer having a choice between a manual transmission having six gears or an automatic six gear. The New Audi has been equipped 18 inch tires and better brakes. The passengers have leather seats, and HID headlights. Though in the back of the car only children can sit comfortably, adults can't sit comfortably.
