Sell My Hummer H2 SUT

The Hummer H2 SUT is a sport utility truck built by General Motors Corporation and modeled after the HMMWV (Humvee) military vehicle. The H2 is not as wide, but is taller and longer than the original Hummer. The SUT is the same as its parent Hummer H2, except it has a small bed where the regular H2 has an inside cargo bay.

The H2 original came out in 2003 and the H2 SUT came out in 2005. There has been virtually no change in the vehicle, which is to be expected since, like the jeep of old, it is based on a military model that does not change to suit public tastes every season.

Power for the SUT comes from a 403 horsepower 6.2 liter V8 that, in the newest model, can run on flex fuel, helping reduce one of the chief complaints against the Hummers - adverse green effects. Transmission is a six-speed automatic with overdrive. Because of its size, Hummer is not required to release fuel efficiency figures and the government does not test it. However, flex fuel or not, don't expect much. 10 miles per gallon or less seems reasonable.

The SUT, like all Hummers, is four-wheel drive. It comes in three trims: Base, Adventure and Luxury. While it may be modeled after an austere military truck, it houses some of the most upscale features you can find. In the latest model these include Bluetooth, sunroof, power leather seats with power lumbar support, steering wheel mounted controls, trip computer, six-CD changer and heated front and rear seats - all standard. For extra bucks you can also get a DVD player and a navigation system.

As with fuel efficiency, Hummer is exempt from NHTSA crash ratings, but don't be put off by that since it is, almost literally, a tank. Not only should it withstand crashes as well or better than any passenger vehicle on the road, it should be about the safest thing on the road against rollovers. And it has all the basic safety features, including optional electronic parking aid and first aid kit.

The biggest knocks on the SUT, other than environmental, are price and cargo area. The first is too large and the second is too small. The cargo bed for the SUT is only two feet long, which is too small for anything approaching standard pickup loads. Even with the rear seat folded down, you don't get much more.

As for price, the base on the newest model is a staggering $59,395, almost fifty percent higher than class average. Still, in many ways, there is nothing else like a Hummer H2 SUT. And if that's what floats your boat, nothing else will do.
