The Toyota Camry Solara was introduced in 1999 and was distinguished from the regular Camry lineup by its unique plunging roof line, rear spoiler, 16" alloy wheels, bold front and rear fascias and deeply accented sides. In 1997, the Camry was redesigned and the two door coupe was discontinued. Consumer demand for a sporty coupe encouraged the introduction of the Solara. The 2007 Toyota Solara is available as an SE, Sport of SLE model. The base model coupe SE is well equipped and affordable, while the sticker price of the Sport and SLE correspond with the additional comfort, convenience and luxury features and increased horsepower in models with larger engines. There are two engine sizes from which to choose; both delivering respectable gas mileage and power. All three trims are available with either a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder or 3.3 liter V6 engine, excepting all convertibles which are only available with the V6. Coupes are designed to seat five passengers, while the rag top seats four. Recent upgrades include a unique contemporary style instrument panel, side curtain and side impact airbags and a premium stereo system with MP3 jack and six disc CD changer.
