Continuing with its tradition of launching new vehicles, BMW launched the M6 in 1983. BMW took the engine of the M1 and the body of the 6 series and called the new born vehicle the M6. The BMW M6 was popular with the buyers for its outer style and good road speed. The M6 could be distinguished from the 6 series by the huge air outlets, and the liberal use of the M label on the car’s body. The M6 was fitted with a S38 engine which could do 90 kilometers per hour in 6.4 seconds flat. When BMW stopped rolling out the M6 in 1989, 5855 of the vehicles were left on the European and North American roads.
