First introduced in 1985, the BMW M5 was modeled it after the E28 5-Series. The M5 was built to satisfy the need of consumers who were looking for a roomy sedan with sports car power. A 3.6 Liter I6 engine developed 286 horsepower, while the 5-speed manual transmission gave drivers complete control. The first generation of the M5 featured the classic BMW boxy style and quad circular headlamps. It wasn’t until the second generation in 1989 that the M5 got a facelift.
